Who we are

CCORRN is organisation governed by a management board, who act as a company limited by guarantee however they do not profit share nor are they paid any sums for their roles other than agreed out of pocket expenses incurred in pursuance of their role. The Management Board represents the interests of CCORRN's members rather than the specific organisations to which they are affiliated or employed by.

reveal profile Mark Shelton (Chairman and Director responsible for Publicity and Events)
The Waste Policy Manager for Cambridgeshire County Council and has been in post for over 8 years. Prior to this he was Recycling Officer for Cambridge City Council for 8 years. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management and secretary to the Eastern Region Waste Management Forum. Previously, Mark graduated in Zoology and Genetics and was a research associate in the genetics department at Cambridge University before moving into teaching.

Mark has considerable knowledge of the whole waste management industry, and now manages a team of 7 staff, including two waste partnership offices, a campaigns officer and two recycling bus managers. His team has worked closely with the local District Councils to implement kerbside collection schemes for dry recyclables and green waste, and been involved in developing a number of awareness campaigns and community initiatives, including the award winning Slim Your Bin campaign, the Master Composter Programme, the Cambridgeshire Real Nappy Network and of course CCORRN and it's Choose2Reuse campaign. This partnership working has been integral to raising the recycling rate across Cambridgeshire to nearly 50% and enabling the partnership to be awarded Beacon Status in 2006.

Mark has five children and two step-children (only 2 still at home), and in what spare time they leave him, Mark enjoys cycling and keeps hens, bees and a large vegetable plot. He has been a parent school governor, chairman of the Parish Council for the village where he previously lived and is vice-chair of the village hall committee where he now lives.

Kay has been a full member of the Chartered Institute in Wastes Management since 2003. Kay holds a Masters degree in Environmental Management and has just completed a Diploma in Management Studies. Kay has worked within the waste sector for 10 years working for a waste collection authority, as well as, a waste disposal authority. For the last three years Kay has worked for the community waste sector as a Development Officer for a local community reuse and recycling network. Kay became a Trustee of the Community Recycling Network UK in 2005. Kay now works for the charity Sue Ryder Care as their Business Development Manager for Recycling.
reveal profile Richard Martin (Director responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety Policy)

Richard is a family man and has a keen interest in environmental matters and particularly those linked in any way with recycling and re-use to help reduce the environmental impact on the world’s limited and ever dwindling resources. He has been a Director of CCORRN for several years now and he is currently employed as Health, Safety & Environment Management Advisor and Domestic Fire Officer for Marshall Aerospace, Marshall Land Systems, Marshall Specialist Vehicles, Marshall Vehicle Engineering and Marshall Systems Design Group as well as overseas Marshall locations. Responsible for advising all Group CEO’s and Board Members on matters of HS&E compliance and best practice. Responsible for management and updating of all H&S Management Policies, Accident Investigation and H&S Training delivery. Point of contact for liaison with all external H&S enforcement agencies. Member of EEF Health & Safety Committee and Cambridge Occupational Safety Group (COSG) and also serve as a voluntary Board Director for CCORRN (Cambridgeshire Community Recycle & Reuse Network).

Richard was previously employed as Group Health Safety & Environment Officer for MAHLE Powertrain Ltd, a complex, highly specialised and multi-faceted automotive casting machining and manufacturing organisation with it’s own UK Foundry. Richard was charged with responsibility for ensuring legal compliance at a corporate level through strategic planning of HS&E policies and procedures. Also responsible for authoring and delivering bespoke, targeted training sessions to all levels of the workforce to create greater levels of awareness and buy-in to HSE requirements. Strategic management of EMS to ensure sustainability of EMAS registration and ISO14001:2004 accreditation. Remit included integration and amalgamation of MPT UK Policies with MAHLE Global policies & procedures. Trained by LRQA and qualified as Lead Auditor for ISO14001 Standard and OHSAS 18001 Specification.

Prior to this Richard was employed as the Health, Safety, Environmental and Production Engineering Manager for Gates Hydraulics Ltd. Richard retired from the Royal Air Force in 1995 after a pensionable engagement of nearly seventeen years. Richard's career within the RAF began as an Aircraft Engineering Technician and ended following some radical life-changing decisions (together with considerable re-training) as an Environmental Health Inspector and Occupational Hygiene specialist. Richard then served several years with Cotswold District Council Environmental Health Department as a Specialised Food Safety & Health and Safety Enforcement Inspector before moving on to head up Lidl UK GmbH as their UK Food Safety, H&S, Customer Services and Trading Standards Manager for several years.

Paid and voluntary work career spanning 20 years including the founding of several service based community social enterprises with charitable aims.

An experienced director of many organisations including Director of the National Childminding Association and latterly a Parish Councillor with specific responsibility for Wimblington and Stonea Allotments.

With an employment history that includes, quality assurance system initiation and implementation, design and marketing incl. direct sales and campaign management, event conception and co-ordination, teaching of adult learners at various colleges,  training design and delivery, community and organisational and behavioural change development work, research team manager, network support and co-ordination, project management incl risk analysis and currently fulfilling the role of Programme Manager encompassing several key projects, consultancy services and the Operational Management of CCORRN.

Mary-Louise has worked in the voluntary sector as a volunteer for over 10 years, being a School Governor, Chair of Benwick Butterflies Preschool, and a Parent Board Member for Sure-Start South Fenland.

Mary-Louise has responsibility for the day to day running of the CCORRN office and finance.
