scrapstore

There are scrapstores all over the world that support the reuse of resources for the benefit of children and communities. they ensure that clean reusable scrap materials, which are usually hard for businesses to recycle and would otherwise be landfilled are diverted and creatively reused. This surplus is made available to members to creatively re-imagine, reinvent and repurpose them through playful, decorative, artistic, fun, and educational projects that don’t cost the earth.

WHat is scrapstore?

Intrigued? Want to know more? Our Scrapstore is named Bits and Bobs because thats exactly what you’ll find. In amongst the rolls of colourful card, massive containers full of fabric scraps, there are lots of things we don’t even have names for.

We are like pirates roaming the industrial estates collecting scrap (treasure) from businesses that don’t want to create waste. We then bring all those off cuts, by-products and precious end of line things back to our scrapstore. We divide up our pieces of eight, sorry, I mean scrap stuff and sort it out into boxes, barrels, tubs and bins so that its easier for our community of re-inventors to choose what they want to pop into their baskets or trollies. We even have a plank or two.

So how does it work?

The Scrapstore is full of ever changing rescued resources from businesses and individuals, you just never know what you might find.

Everyone is welcome to become a member. There are different membership categories for individual households, community groups, community groups and artists. Membership is on an annual basis and only members can purchase from the scrapstore.

Once you’re a member, choose a basket or trolley and pay according to whether its to the level or over the level. Please note some items, (usually those on the top shelves and the left hand aisle) are individually priced.

Come visit us, have a tour and if you like what we’re about you can join and shop on the same day.
